It's no surprise that fresh seafood is the favorite on North Captiva Island with the island's fabulous location between the Gulf of Mexico and Pine Island Sound. The island features a few unique restaurants for those times when you feel like eating out.

Mainstay North Captiva (Barnacles)
(239) 472-1204

Mainstay North Captiva, which is also known as Barnacles to locals and long-time visitors, is a unique island staple offering very casual indoor and outdoor dining. Sit under their tiki hut as you enjoy a drink, fresh fish, shrimp, chicken, burgers, fish tacos, and salads. The remodeled upstairs features a gift shop and serves ice cream, cappuccino, espresso, malts, and sodas.

They are located near the private airstrip and are a favorite among fishermen and day-trippers to the island. Be sure to walk out on the dock and look for Florida otters playing nearby or manatees hanging out in the warm, shallow water. They also have sand volleyball, cornhole, basketball, and free fishing from the pier for kids. Lunch and dinner hours vary by season and are posted outside the restaurant.

Mangos Pool Bar
(239) 395-1001 x3

Mangos Pool Bar is situated between North Captiva Island Club’s two pools. They offer an informal outdoor dining experience for the entire family to enjoy as well as a full array of cocktails, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. Their menu includes tacos, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and appetizers.  They're open for lunch and dinner, and take out is also available from the kitchen.

The Boathouse

The Boathouse is located above the North Captiva Island Club office.  You can enjoy your meal in the newly decorated dining room while taking in the beautiful views of the marina. Their menu includes fresh seafood, steak, and much more. With an ample wine selection and full bar, The Boathouse is not to be missed. Days of operation vary by season and reservations are required.

Over the Waterfront
(239) 472-4762

Over the Waterfront, located in Safety Harbor, is one of Florida's few remaining over the water restaurants. Their outside deck offers dining with incredible views of the bay. The menu changes seasonally to incorporate locally grown produce and features a variety of items such as fresh fish, steak, pork, chicken, and pasta. It is currently open to guests who are not members of Safety Harbor Club and you are allowed to bring your own alcoholic beverages to enjoy with your meal. Lunch is available most days, but please call ahead. They close for a few hours between lunch and dinner service.
