There’s not a grocery store on the island, so pre-planning food during your vacation is essential! We suggest making a menu for your entire stay in advance. If you are a multi-family group, divide out dinner nights and determine how many nights you will eat out. Make a grocery list from the menu and you are good to go!
You should plan to place an online grocery order to pick up on your way to the ferry. If you’re using Pine Island Taxi be sure to tell them you will be making a stop to pick up your pre-ordered groceries on your way to the ferry.
We like to bring self-serve breakfast items that can be left out and simple lunch items that can be kept in the pool refrigerator and cupboards. We have plates and silverware at the pool, but you may want to bring paper plates, cups, and plastic silverware for easy cleanup after poolside lunches.
We recommend ordering groceries from the Publix at Coral Shores at 3015 SW Pine Island Road, Cape Coral, FL 33991. Be sure to note that you would like all perishable items packed in dry ice for the ferry to North Captiva Island in the the "Special Instructions" after adding the first item to your cart. You only need to add the note to one item for the complete order. Select a time that's one hour earlier than when you actually want to pick up your order. It takes Publix extra time to pack an order for the ferry.
Publix stocks beer and wine and Friendly Frankie’s Liquor is right next door. Call Publix at (239) 282-5515 or Friendly Frankie's Liquor at (239) 283-6185 if you have any questions or need assistance.
If you’re driving you may want to purchase your dry goods at home and bring soft-sided cooler bags with you. This may save you time and money when shopping for your trip. You can take your cooler bags into the grocery store for your cold items, add ice, and you are ready to go.
Shipping to North Captiva Island isn’t recommended since the delivery service is unreliable and doesn’t operate daily. North Captiva Island Club also charges a delivery fee. If you’re bringing extra items from home you may want to check an extra box on the plane as a more reliable alternative.
Do you want to save the time and hassle of stopping at the grocery store all together? To have someone do your shopping for you and deliver groceries directly to your home, contact North Captiva Groceries at (239) 464-8111.
Shipt is another option. They can shop for you and deliver your order to the North Captiva Island Club Welcome Center. Your order will come to you on the ferry and you can pick it up at the time you coordinated with your shopper. Delivery times may vary depending on their schedule. Let your shopper know they'll be sending your order on the ferry and that you would like perishable items packed in dry ice.
If you enjoy seafood contact Boats and Fun about fresh fish delivery. If you order by 4:00 PM your order will arrive the next morning. Call (800) 991-3259 or stop by Boats and Fun to place an order.
No matter how much advance planning you do, it seems like there is always an "Oh No" moment. Don't worry! Mangos, a small, island convenience store, is perfect for those moments. Don't count on it for all your needs as island prices are higher and inventory is limited, but when you forget something you really need, it works!
